GENERAL INFORMATION
Tthe Kurrajong series are trailing spreaders and the Acacia series are mounted. All models and sizes are available as Standard, Deluxe, or Super Deluxe models with either PTO or hydraulic drive. The Kurrajong fertiliser spreaders are available with a 1000, 2000 or 4000 Kg load rating and the Acacia has 1000 and 2000 Kg load ratings. The K1000, K2000 and the AC1000 models have optional hopper extensions. Extensions are used to increase hopper capacity for lighter products thus reducing the possibility of accidental overloading. The K1000 and K2000 have a low centre of gravities and are recommended for use in very steep country.
Models:
Standard models have fixed discharge points and a quantity control gate and are recommended for normal granulated fertiliser spreading operations. For extremely accurate spreading this model requires 50% overlap. See ground coverage charts.
Deluxe models have adjustable discharge points and a quantity control gate and are recommended for very accurate spreading on tram lines or over large areas and for spreading operations that could require the Mk7 agitator, lump breaker or the 12mm quantity booster.
Super Deluxe models are a De-luxe model fitted with an anti-dust spinner and are recommended for spreading fine or dusty products like lime.
Hydraulic models. Due to lack of oil power available, hydraulic models are not the best for spreading fertilisers that could require Quantity booster, Agitators or Lump breakers. Hydraulic models are recommended for applications where it is necessary to turn sharply to miss obstructions such as trees, stumps, rocks, etc.
PTO models These are fitted with the Crump Mk5 gearbox. The tail shaft is completely enclosed from front to back and unless otherwise ordered, machines are supplied with a Crump PTO shaft and clutch. Universal joint kits are standard sizes and are readily available.
Hydraulic models. These are powered with a Cross hydraulic motor. The spinner runs on its own RLS12 bearing, not the hydraulic motor bearings. Spinner speed is controlled by tractors hydraulic oil flow control valve. A bypass check valve is fitted allowing normal tractor remote valves to be used. The machines hydraulic motor seals are protected from damage from extremely high pressures in the oil return line caused by improper return line connections and other problems.
Effective ground cover. As a guide at 540 rpm of PTO or 625 rpm of spinner.1. Well granulated Australian Single Super - 25 to 27.5 M (depending on uniformity of grain size)2. Normal Super (Australian Double and Triple Super) - 27.5 M3. Well granulated Urea - 20 to 25 M (depending on uniformity of grain size). Fine lime - 4.5 M4. Ground cover can be increased or decreased by changing the spinner speed.
Standards and Regulations:
Unless otherwise ordered, machines are supplied to Australian & ISO standards and Australian H&S regulations. When an agitator is ordered with an Acacia 2000, Kurrajong 1000 or a Kurrajong 2000 fertiliser spreader, a lump & safety screen must also be ordered; or, order must clearly state that the person responsible for the machine will make his own safety provisions in accordance with local regulations.
Kurrajong and Acacia History In 1970 the series 1 was released, series 2 in 1972, series 3 in 1975, series 4 in 1978 and the current series 5 in 1998. All changes leading to the series 4 were due to changes in tractors PTO clutches and an increase in attachment power requirements. The series 5 is a metric series 4.Since 1970 the position of outlets and instructions have been changed to accommodate better quality fertilisers and more accurate testing equipment. Not only are we still servicing the 1970 models, but still supplying parts to spreaders made in 1935. Unfortunately, earlier models have to be upgraded to 1935 or later specifications. What better guarantee can a manufacturer offer?
Note:
The adjustable discharge spout and anti-dust spinner can be fitted to all past and current models. Anti-dust spinners should not be fitted to machines that do not have adjustable discharge spouts if accurate spreading is required.
